Recently the season 33 of Dancing With the Stars cast was announced to the public. One cast member among them caused more shock than the others: Anna Sorokin.
If you didn’t already know, Anna Sorokin was charged with grand larceny in the first degree, grand larceny in the second degree, and theft of services. She faked her name and posed as Anna Delvey, a fake German heiress to swindle money out of banks and friends. She would use fake checks and get multiple loans. By the time she was caught, Anna had stolen over $200,000. Her crimes were committed around 2017-2018 and she was convicted in 2019. She was released from prison in 2021 but is still paying thousands of dollars in restitution.

Now, shortly after her release, Anna was announced to be a dancer alongside three years Dancing With the Stars professional dancer Ezra Sosa. It became a very controversial topic on whether or not she deserved such an honor of being on the show but the showrunner has backed her up relentlessly. Due to that fact, Anna will continue to dance in the show and compete for the mirror ball trophy.
On the other hand, others are excited to see such a controversial character compete on a beloved show like Dancing With the Stars. Anna is also well-known for her fashion and social media posts. Not counting her movie and extremely popular social media platform, she also has a book and a podcast. There is no doubt that she does have a fanbase of a sort that is more than willing to cheer her on in her new journey to dominate the dancefloor.
