On Sunday, February 9, 2025, the Kansas City Chiefs played against the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesars Superdome, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The game was not a close one with the Chiefs losing 22-40. This came as a great loss to the Chiefs, who had hoped to make Super Bowl history by being the first three-peat champions. At the end of the first quarter, the Eagles had scored seven points. They continued to dominate, gaining seventeen more points in the second quarter. The Chiefs failed to score.

At the end of the third quarter, Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs’ rookie, scored their first touchdown after a pass from Patrick Mahomes. Many Chiefs fans began leaving the stadium, disappointed and hopeless. The Chiefs fought in the end and gained sixteen points. The Eagles only scored six points in the fourth quarter, making it their worst.
The halftime show, headlined by Kendrick Lamar received mixed reviews. Samuel L. Jackson introduced the performance dressed as Uncle Sam. Kendrick performed eleven tracks. He was joined by SZA and former Tennis pro, Serena Williams. This came as a shock, as both women had previously dated Drake, who was the target of the song. “They Not Like Us,” performed second to last.
Other famous faces in attendance included Taylor Swift, Pete Davidson, Ice Spice, Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper, Kevin Hart, Macaulay Culkin, Jay-Z, President Donald Trump, Jon Batiste (who sang the National Anthem), Miles Teller, Paul Rudd, and Anne Hathaway, among others.
