Delta Gamma hosted its 16th annual Anchor Slam on March 13th. It was held in the RAWC on campus and raised close to $2,500 for the organization’s philanthropy Service for Sight. Each year Delta Gamma hosts events in order to raise money to give back to individuals who have vision impairments, and the programs that serve them. 100% of the proceeds from the event go to Service for Sight. Half of the funds go to Oklahoma School for the Blind, while the other half goes to the Delta Gamma Foundation and is dispersed to other Service for Sight programs and organizations across the country.

Anchor Slam is a 3v3 basketball tournament. Each team plays six-minute halves and must win in order to advance to the next game. Delta Gamma was lucky enough to host twenty-three teams, with the entire tournament lasting almost three hours. At the event, there was also the opportunity to buy tickets to win a door prize, donated by local businesses, for a few extra dollars.
Along with their event, they also raised money to support Service for Sight in other ways during their philanthropy week. On Monday they hosted a percentage night at Cherry Berry, and on Tuesday, they hosted Slices for Sight and sold pizza at the bell tower. Throughout the entire week, the organization raised close to $2,900 for Service for Sight. Delta Gamma’s philanthropy week and Anchor Slam event was a great way to get the community involved in the organization's philanthropy, while also giving back to those who need it.
