Colson Whitehead, a two-time Pulitzer Prize winner, is seated to give a free craft talk and lecture on university grounds this February- and at no cost to the public.
Colson Whitehead has won two Pulitzer prizes for his literary works The Underground Railroad and The Nickleboys and has published eight novels, including those mentioned earlier. Whitehead started by publishing his first novel in 1999 titled The Intuitionist and it would be The Underground Railroad which earned him his first Pulitzer after it was published in 2016. Whitehead is set to release his next novel in July of this year titled Crook Manifesto which will be the second novel in his Harlem trilogy.
Whitehead will be on campus for two events occurring on February 7th, 2023, starting with the ‘Colson Whitehead Craft Talk’ held from 2:00-3:00 pm in the Windgate Art and Design Theater. Whitehead will be discussing both of his Pulitzer Prize-winning novels Underground Railroad and The Nickleboys, as well as giving a book signing during ‘An Evening with Colson Whitehead’ in the Stubblefield Arena from 6:00-7:00 pm.
To reserve your tickets, go to the Calendar of Events on the University’s homepage (you will need to scroll down on the homepage in order to find this) and select either event you wish to attend. You will then be taken to a page with information about the event, and whom to contact in case of a problem or further questions. The tickets are free for both events, and a link is given for registration. If you are unable or do not wish to attend in person, a Zoom link is also available for both events.
