What's Going on With Wendy Williams?

Polarizing TV show host Wendy Williams has signed papers to end her guardianship after three years of being confined to the arrangement.

The controversial talk show hostess has been in a court-ordered guardianship following her 2022 diagnoses which include Graves’ disease, hyperthyroidism, dementia, and aphasia. The order went into effect in May of that year after Wells Fargo characterized Williams as “incapacitated” after “documenting a pattern of unusual and disturbing events” in her banking activity.

Under this guardianship, Wendy Williams’s personal and financial affairs are monitored by her court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey. Morrissey is the former president of the New York Women’s Bar Association (NYWBA), “a non-profit charity whose mission is to eliminate gender bias and discrimination from the legal system and profession” (NYWBA).

Under this guardianship, along with her finances, Wendy has no control over her life. Attention has been drawn to her as it was revealed by New York City news outlet, Newsbreak, that Wendy is “in a New York City assisted living facility where she’s confined to a room on the fifth floor and cannot leave without permission.” Williams herself disclosed that “she’s been outside in the fresh air twice in the last 30 days for dentist appointments and almost no one is allowed to visit [her].”

In a recent interview, TMZ’s Harvey Levin was able to speak with Williams from her facility who “agreed to have Wendy look through the window at the cameras” and talk to Levin on the phone. Due to her coherent demeanor and improved look, it is now speculated that Williams was misdiagnosed with frontotemporal dementia because “she’s getting better, not worse” since getting sober.

Amidst all the drama, Wendy Williams has kept up with her love of pop culture and continues to proclaim the striking opinions that rose her to fame. In one portion of the interview, she revealed that rapper/producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs should be “sent to jail for life” for his crimes and, in another segment opened up about her son, Kevin, saying “he overstepped his boundaries and he was inappropriately using [her] money without telling [her] crap about it.”

While continuing to fight for her rights, Wendy is surrounded by love and support from not only Levin but also her loyal fans who are rooting for her safety and health.
